The Wedding Is Most Individuals' Main Focus, But The Wedding Rehearsal Supper Can Be Memorable, Too

There are numerous plans, costs and stresses that go together with arranging a wedding ceremony. If couples aren't careful they can get so consumed with planning the wedding and endeavoring to get all the details right that there is little time to enjoy the experience. When my niece was preparing for her wedding she had three bridal showers to go to, reception plans to make and was trying to find a location for the rehearsal dinner. The third bridal shower was given at my home. You see I'm her godmother so I had wanted to make it unique for her. Shortly before the shower we talked on the telephone. She sounded very stressed. She and her fiance were also having difficulties finding the best wedding songs for the wedding ceremony. I suggested that she arrive the night before the bridal shower and stay the night and we would relax and I would help her organize a list of what needed to be done prior to the wedding. She thought this sounded like a wonderful plan.

I did most of of the planning for the wedding shower prior to my niece arriving so that we could focus on her needs. She shared that the rehearsal dinner was her greatest stress due to the fact that the spot they had reserved had double booked, so they needed to locate a different location. We began by working on finding the best wedding songs for the wedding so we could get one requirement out of the way thereby giving confidence that the other would be dealt with as well. As I imagined finding the best wedding songs was just a matter of searching the net, listening to samples, ordering what was selected and that was that. Now to settle the rehearsal dinner.

The wedding day rehearsal supper is normally arranged by the groom's family; in fact a number of individuals refer to the event as the groom's supper. My niece's fiance is from another state so his family is is paying for the rehearsal dinner, but they are not able to assist with making the preparations. My niece had reached out to the restaurant where the wedding reception will be held, but the only space available was the area where the wedding reception would be happening. My niece stated that the plan was to decorate the reception area previous to going to the church for the rehearsal.

We called two nearby restaurants to see if they could handle the rehearsal dinner. Both had other happenings scheduled. Her fiance's parents are divorced, also both have remarried. This meant that there were additional people that would be at the rehearsal dinner. This was also adding to her tension for the reason that she was attempting to suss out the etiquette for seating. She had the seating chart figured out for the wedding, but not knowing where the rehearsal dinner would be held diminished her opportunity to prepare a chart.

I asked my niece if she had contacted the church to look into if the fellowship area would be accessible. Everyone could just mingle and have a light catered meal. This would be much less formal and would be relatively easy to plan. The fellowship area was open that date. We called two delis and ordered a buffet meal. My niece called her fiance and told him the revised plans for the rehearsal dinner. He thought this sounded great. He would make preparations to have a pal of his tend bar and would arrange for the drinks.

The rehearsal dinner was a nice relaxed evening. The guests were able to visit and mingle and the bride and groom didn't feel the need to sit in one spot while everybody ordered their food and had it served. With having a buffet line the environment was very casual and the out of town guests didn't have to attempt to find another site in an area that they were not familiar with.
